Description
A storm offshore brought wild surf onto Coast Guard Beach. The rangers closed the beach to swimming until the surf subsided. Such an amazing sight! 'Coast Guard Beach - Closed for Swimming' was seen from Coast Guard Beach, during a stormy morning. The beach was closed for several hours, until the tide was well on its way out. These people were looking on as the sea thundered up and down the Cape Cod National Seashore. A storm offshore kicked up the waves and this beach was closed for a few hours. The riptide was fierce! Even on a normal day, the riptide is nothing to mess with. On this day, if you got too close or weren't paying attention, the riptide would take a person out before they knew what hit them. I saw little children trying to play in the waves. It made me cringe to think of what could have happened to them! Seen from Coast Guard Beach, North Eastham, Ma, shortly after sunrise :))

Definitely looks like rough seas to me! I can see why the riptide could take an adult or child out in the waves in a millisecond! Congratulations, Dianne! Your amazing image has been featured on the "Environmental Art - Specifically Ocean Conservation" home page.
